Lotus Tai Chi Team
Life has its ups and downs, but every Saturday, we step into our Dojo to “flow like a river and move like a willow in the wind.” Leaving the outside world behind, we cultivate a peaceful and relaxing space where we practice, learn, and grow together. Each class fills our hearts with positive energy, helping us move through life with balance and vitality.
Who we are
We are a welcoming community, united by our love for Tai Chi & Qigong. Our members come from diverse backgrounds, ages, and with varying health limitations, yet we all share a common passion for the practice and its benefits.
We offer a non-competitive space where everyone is encouraged to learn at their own pace. Our focus is on progress, not perfection—fostering patience, self-awareness, and a deeper connection to the practice. Here, it's not about getting every move right; it's about enjoying the journey, embracing each step, and celebrating personal growth along the way.
Our Practice
Every class follows a mindful routine:
We begin with a gentle warm-up, preparing both body and mind for the practice ahead. Then, we flow into Tai Chi & Qigong, moving gracefully to calming zen music, promoting health, harmony, and inner balance.
To conclude, we gather for our cherished Tai Chi Tea Ceremony, sharing gratitude, reflections, and a soothing cup of fragrant jasmine tea—a perfect way to end our practice together.
Our Journey
The founder, Sifu Alicia Kominek was passionate about creating a welcoming and friendly space for everyone to learn Tai Chi, and sharing its benefits. She began teaching Tai Chi at Om Loka Yoga Studio, offering classes in both Spanish and English. After six months of teaching with students coming and going, Alicia faced the challenge of canceling the classes. However, her husband joined her as her first student, sparking a renewed passion. She then created a challenge to learn two Tai Chi routines to be presented on World Tai Chi Day 2023, where she was honored to be a special guest. With the support of a friend, who brought along more friends, Alicia cultivated a beautiful, joyful, and loving group of Tai Chi practitioners. This group became the Lotus Tai Chi team. Later on Sifu Kominek studies Qigong with the Spain Association of Qigong for Health where she learn several routines of Bioenergetic Daoyin and start to teach and share this awesome benefits too.
On World Tai Chi Day 2023 we finally perform as a special guest: Bafa Wubu & The Radiant Lotus Fan.
Last year for World Tai Chi Day 2024, we proudly presented Taiji Yangsheng Zhang – Tai Chi Stick for the first time in Texas, since then we continuing our journey of energy flow and well-being through dedicated practice.
This year, we are honored to present our very first World Tai Chi Day celebration, hosted by us, the Lotus Tai Chi team.
We are happy people sharing the health benefits of Tai Chi & Qigong. We move with joy, breathe with intention, and embrace the beauty of the present moment—together.

In my search for a low-impact exercise, I discovered Tai Chi. Over time, I realized that regular practice significantly improved my memory, flexibility, coordination, balance, and concentration. It also enhanced my energy levels while promoting relaxation and restful sleep.
I began learning Tai Chi in 2018 with the Woodlands Tai Chi group. It has been an exhilarating journey, and under the guidance of my master and mentor, Sesco Saegusa, I have reached new levels of understanding and skill.
In 2021, I expanded my practice to include Qigong, studying with various masters and exploring different techniques. Recognizing the profound health benefits of this ancient system, I integrated Qigong into my classes to offer a more holistic approach to well-being. My journey of learning and training continues to this day.
As an instructor, my mission is to share the benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong in a supportive environment where everyone can learn at their own pace and feel a sense of joy in their progress. I designed this step-by-step guided class to help students disconnect from the outer world and reconnect with their inner selves, bringing harmony to their lives through consistent practice.
Perfection is not my goal—happiness and fulfillment in learning are. My hope is that every Tai Chi player in my dojo finds joy in their practice and experiences the profound benefits it offers.
